1960 Austin Mini Van mb-code 1620841 Sir John Balchen and General1960 Austin Mini Van. Designed in the wake of the Suez oil crisis, the Mini's ingenious design made it ideal for light commercial work. Good acceleration and sharp handling made it fun to drive. When new, BMC marketed the Mini van as the Austin 7 quarter tonner. Also available in pick up form, its wheelbase was longer than the saloon.
