Some of the gold decoration has faded or worn away

this reminds me of a Carl Aubock in its simple but just-right form and weight

but surely this could be used for that as well

This puzzle, which I believe dates to late 1940s or early 50s, appears unbranded in terms of what test it was affiliated with, though I believe Stoelting also produced materials for the Weschler IQ test (WISC.) The underside of the lid on this one is stamped
